5 Musical Chairs Energizers: The Ultimate Guide

Here are five musical chairs energizers that you can use to add some fun and excitement to any workshop gathering or event:

Musical Ball Chairs:

  • Set up chairs in a circle, one less than the number of participants.
  • Place a ball or soft object on one chair (the “hot seat”).
  • Play music and have participants walk around the chairs.
  • When the music stops, everyone must find a chair to sit on.
  • The person left standing without a chair takes the ball and leaves the game.
  • Remove one chair and continue until only one person remains, who is the winner.

Animal Chairs:

  • Set up chairs as usual, with one less than the number of participants.
  • Assign an animal to each chair (e.g., lion, elephant, monkey, etc.).
  • Play music and have participants walk around the chairs imitating the animal assigned to their chair.
  • When the music stops, call out an animal name.
  • Participants must quickly find the chair with the called animal and sit on it.
  • The last person to sit in the correct chair is out, and one chair is removed for the next round.

Numbered Chairs:

  • Arrange chairs in a circle with numbers taped on the back (make sure one chair fewer than the participants).
  • Play music and have participants walk around the chairs.
  • When the music stops, announce a number.
  • Participants must quickly find the chair with the called number and sit on it.
  • Remove one chair and continue until only one person remains, who is the winner.

Themed Musical Chairs:

  • Set up chairs in a circle with various themes (e.g., superheroes, movie titles, colors, etc.).
  • Play music and have participants walk around the chairs.
  • When the music stops, call out a theme.
  • Participants must find a chair with an item that matches the called theme and sit on it.
  • Remove one chair and continue with different themes until only one person remains.

Team Musical Chairs:

  • Divide participants into teams of two.
  • Set up chairs in a circle, with one less chair than the total number of teams.
  • Each team stands next to a chair.
  • Play music and have teams walk around the chairs.
  • When the music stops, one member of each team sits on the chair while the other stands behind.
  • The standing team member must answer a quick question or perform a simple task given by the facilitator.
  • If they answer correctly or complete the task, their team stays in the game; otherwise, they’re out.
  • Remove one chair and continue until only one team remains, who is the winning team.

Remember to ensure the safety of the participants while playing these energizers and have a lot of fun! We hear this from customers that have ordered our full set of courses.
