Oak Innovation, at oakinnovation.com, was formed on January 1, 1995, with a mission to inspire and enable development with affordable, editable, and practical training course material.
Founded by Catherine Fitzgerald, B.A., M.A., her vision came after observing a learning and development industry.
Catherine noticed that while there were a lot of dedicated and authentic trainers out there, many still found it difficult to find the time to create training course materials. And, as result, opportunities to deliver training courses were missed.
We’re challenging how we do things and how we can do more for our customers. We want to also highlight that a company can succeed while offering affordable solutions.
Every business starts with a problem. Ours was simple: pre-written training course material is too expensive and too difficult to access.
Our founders were professional trainers who often needed training content quickly. The cost of getting this material was so high, and the time required to develop the content from scratch was so long that opportunities were often lost, which is never a good situation.
The cause of this situation was simple. A few companies dominated the training course material industry, offering high prices and very little flexibility.

As the founder and chief executive, Catherine Fitzgerald is one of the most recognized and respected authorities in professional development and training circles. Catherine received her Bachelor’s degree and Master’s In Health Promotion from University College Cork. She holds qualifications in Professional Development And Training from University College Galway. She is completing a second Master’s in Trauma Studies from University College Cork in partnership with Queen’s University Belfast and the Wave Trauma Centre in Northern Ireland.
